Focus Group Findings

Focus group

We played the song to the focus group and asked some questions; one of the questions was: “if you had to make a music video to this song, would you put any controversial themes in it?”
“I wouldn’t put any controversial stuff on the music video, it might be hated on”
This is an opinion that the group has to think about carefully, because we want to implement some images and objects related to religion, due to the main issue that the song is focus on which is homosexuality and religion. So we have to be careful, to make sure that we do not offend anyone with what e will put in the music video.

However some of the candidates said that if they had to do a music video for the song, they would put controversial themes.

In the focus group most of the candidates said that they like music videos that correlate with the lyrics.
“I like music videos that correlate with the lyrics”.
“The video has to be related with the song it can’t be random otherwise you’ll lose attraction”.
Opinions like these are “good news” to us, as we want to make a music video that is related to the lyrics and the theme mentioned in it. So we already know that this is one aspect that people like on music videos.

These three opinions where very relevant for us:
“I don’t like music videos that are distractive”; “I like simple videos”; “Simple but unique”.
These opinions were vital as they encouraged us to keep one of our main ideas for the music video, which was of using simple editing a try to create more impact with what we put in the video in terms of images, themes and also camera angles and shots.
